The perfect way to characterize Omnifocus is that it is the absolute best GTD application for the Mac, that is, for people whose concept of what excellent software is like to use, is analogous to wrestling with a tar baby. It is the perfect GTD software for people who really don't have a lot to actually get done, but whose entire lives revolve around scouring the Omnifocus forum, just to figure out the simplest things, which are omitted from the "documentation" [sic]. The more you wrassle with Omnifocus, the more it just fills you with unspeakable hope, and you just hope you can get through it, and kind of see what's in it, and try to make use of it, without getting too messed up. It is the gol' darndest sticky thing you ever did see. Just don't but touch it with a stick the first time, you hear?

Hi Jonaz

Wow.. Things looks really cool. It's amazing how many GTD apps there's out there for MAC.

For the time being I'm going to stick with OmniFocus. I have my system up and running now. And it's time to do some real work instead of fiddling more with my GTD system.

But I'm going to check it out soon for sure.

Have you had a look at Things from Cultured Code?
http://culturedcode.com/things
Very nice looking app that's still i alpha. Lacks the bloat frpm OmniFocus, and adds flexibility (and perhaps complexity, depending on how much you "fiddle" with your setup) by using tags instead of contexts.

Still evaluating both OmniFocus and Things for myself.

Good luck with Getting Things Done! :-)

I think it wasn't Merlin Mann who was on the OmniFocus development team. Instead Ethan Shoonover who formerly developed the kgtd scripts for OmniOutliner was helping out and later got hired by the OmniGroup.

Ready-Set-Do! and ThinkingRock, are worth checking out as well. Both handle the Project planning component in ways more consistent with GTD methods.
